Datalogger for UL aircraft
This thesis describes the design of flight data recorder for UL aircraft. The theoretical part describes the basic principles of measurement of the quantities in relation to the operation of the aircraft, such as altitude, air speed. A separate chapter deals with systems for determining of GPS position. Furthermore, there are examples of instruments measuring these quantities. The practical part is focused on the description of selected components and their connection to PIC24FJ64GA004 microcontroller. This is followed by a description of the control of USB drives with USB Controller Vinculum-II. The work is finished by the functional test of the device.
The load bearing capacity of railway masonry arch bridges
This paper deals with the way of calculating
the load-bearing capacity of masonry arch railway
bridges. It reviews the basic aspects of structural behaviour
of these bridges, such as material non-linearity
of masonry and interaction with the soil. Paper shows,
how to include second order analysis in the calculation,
because in some cases it might have non-negligible influence.
It reminds the requirements of standards and
shows, how to calculate the load-bearing capacity in
accordance with these requirements with influence of
mentioned non-linearities
On the longitudinal structure function in the dipole model
We compare new HERA data for the longitudinal structure function
with the predictions of different variants of the dipole model. In particular
we show that the ratio is well described by the dipole models
and is rather insensitive to the details of the fit. Fits to are
performed with the help of geometrical scaling (GS). Using the property of GS
we derive the bounds for both for the different versions of the
dipole model and in the general case. Finally we briefly discuss how the higher
Fock components of the photon wave function may affect these bounds.Comment: 19 pages, 11 figures, v3 to be published in Acta Physica Polonica

The quest for pension reform : Poland's security through diversity
This report looks at pension reform recently undertaken in Poland, but draws conclusions with wider applicability. It examines the motivation for reform, the struggle of progressively minded experts and politicians to advance the reform agenda, the architecture of the new system, and issues arising during the transition. The final section offers tentative conclusions and lessons for other countries while highlighting the factors leading to the reform's successful launch (it is too early yet to determine the pension system's success). Factors included enlisting broad popular support for the contents of the reform package; shielding the office for pension reform from political fights, enabling it to focus on its professional tasks; intimately involving the trade unions through several consultations; and lastly, moving quickly to grasp opportunities, that is, taking advantage of the public consensus for pension reform.Environmental Economics&Policies,Pensions&Retirement Systems,Economic Theory&Research,Banks&Banking Reform,Information Technology
Isomorphisms between spaces of Lipschitz functions
We develop tools for proving isomorphisms of normed spaces of Lipschitz
functions over various doubling metric spaces and Banach spaces. In particular,
we show that
,
for all . More generally, we e.g. show that
, where is
from a large class of finitely generated nilpotent groups and is its
Mal'cev closure; or that
, for all .
We leave a large area for further possible research.Comment: 28 pages, no figures. Accepted to Journal of Functional Analysi
